Murray’s past experience includes National Accounts Manager calling on Petco, PetSmart, WalMart, Central Corp., Orchard’s Supply, Leslie’s Pool Supply and all ecommerce business. Prior to that Murray was an independent representative on the west coast working with over 30 different manufactures and is former PIJAC board member and was also a member of WWPSA.

    “I’m very excited about shoo!TAG™ and the global opportunities for the product and the company. I am impressed with the technology and that it is chemical free. When I heard that they have a recycling program and give 5% in TAGS (gross sales from expos) to non-profit organizations - synched the deal for me,” said Murray.

  • KENS 5 News - Austin sisters pioneer magnet that keeps fleas, ticks off dogs

    The Environmental Protection Agency issued a warning this year about spot-on treatments. Pointing to the increasing number of adverse reactions in pets to these treatments, the agency is now intensifying its evaluation of these chemical products.

    "It is important that the chemicals aren't used on the dogs anymore. I always had a concern about putting the chemical on the back of the neck like we had to before," said Kim. The Medranos no longer use spot-on chemicals after learning about a new product called shoo!TAG™. It claims to keep fleas and ticks off dogs and cats without the use of chemicals. "I was skeptical [at first]," Kim said. "I wasn't sure how this magnetic tag was going to ward off any fleas or ticks."

    "But after taking our dog to the groomers, we found the one with the shoo!tag™ -- believe it or not -- didn't have fleas or ticks," Fred said. "The [dog] that was using the chemicals we had been using for years had some fleas on her."

    Recently, the WALL STREET JOURNAL published a story about the growing concern over spot-on insect control products. The Environmental Protection Agency has made public their renewed scrutiny of these types of products; even going so far as to have published a long list of pest control treatments that are under review after receiving many reports of pets that have suffered from chemical burns, seizures and even death in direct relation to the use of these products. Pet owners across the country have filed lawsuits against the manufacturers of such products after their own animals suffered injuries from the treatments.

    In May of 2008, one year before the publication of the WSJ story, Austin’s own Melissa Mowrer Rogers and her sister Kathy M. Heiney launched a new company, Energetic Solutions LLC, and began working on an innovative solution that provides a safe alternative to chemical pest control treatments. They call it shoo!TAG™, and it made its debut at the Global Pet Expo in February of this year.

  • Product Review: shoo!Tags™, A New Way to Control Fleas

    When I was contacted by Charlie from TheSafePetShop.com and asked if I would like to try a different kind of flea control on the Bloggy Doggies, I was intrigued. I only know of several ways to control fleas, and to tell you the truth, not much works on my dogs anymore. I quit using the once a month flea products like Advantage and Frontline because of the poor results. They work for awhile but then become ineffective. I figure the fleas must be getting immune to these products.

    Anyway, Charlie explained about shoo!TAG™. These are little tags that look like mini credit cards and hang from the dog’s collar. They are non-toxic. Apparently they work by using electromagnetic frequencies to create a protective barrier that lasts for about 4 months. There are no chemicals which I love. I always felt uneasy about putting poison on my dogs.

    The days of flea collars and dips for dogs could soon be over if a new pet product developed by an Austin company catches on further.

    In January, Energetic Solutions LLC — operated by sisters Melissa Mowrer Rogers and Kathy Heiney — launched shoo!TAG™, a pet product that repels insects by emitting a magnetic frequency. Starting with a $90,000 seed investment from friends and angel investors, the eight-person company has already garnered orders totaling $1.5 million.

    And that’s sans advertising.

    Next month, it plans to introduce a version of the tag for people that is designed to ward off mosquitoes and ticks.
